Stewardship
What is Stewardship?
Stewardship is a way of life. It is everything we do after we say “I believe.” Christian Stewardship involves a responsible management of the financial affairs of a church, as well as those of an individual or family. Christian Stewardship can be thought of as an attitude. It is an attitude that influences our daily life. It is a lifestyle, reflected in the way we live our lives every day of the year.
Our understanding of stewardship attitude originates in the book of Genesis. The first chapter tells us that God created all things, including people, who are to be the managers, caretakers, or stewards of all that God created. Being good stewards involves protecting and improving our natural surroundings and environment. It includes being concerned about the welfare of our fellow human beings. It also means we are to take care of ourselves by staying in shape spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically.
Christian Stewardship can be seen as one of the ways we offer thanks to God for what God is doing for us. At St. Luke’s Church our Christian Stewardship is a year round and all inclusive program.
